Scott Hendry Waldner, also known as “Tall”, of Canton, GA, passed away at the age of 71 on
June 30th, 2024. He was a loving father, brother, uncle and friend to so many. He had the
biggest heart, kindest soul and gentlest demeanor to those he held dear.
Born on May 29th, 1953 in Pittsburgh, PA, he grew up getting into everything and anything. He
led an adventurous life filled with excitement, Harley’s, Hobie cats, daughters, dune buggies and
any body of water he could dip his toes into. He is preceded in death by his parents, Anne
Randle Waldner and Craig McConnell Waldner, and a nephew. Scott leaves behind two
daughters, Anne Waldner Rohling (Charles) and Victoria Rose Waldner (Leonard), three sisters,
Wendy Flynn, Jo Anne Ebersold and Heidi Nufer (Peter), one brother, Craig McConnell
Waldner, Jr. (Marlene), and many nieces and nephews.
Scott dabbled in multiple craft, mechanical, machinery, and construction projects throughout his
life including remodeling an award-winning van, manufacturing and mastering the art of
Landsailing, whipping through the surf on his Hobie Cat, constructing renowned treehouses,
building go-karts that terrorized the neighbors, and fabricating street legal dune buggies to teach
the girls how to drive a stick shift in style.
He dedicated over 20+ years as a supervisor and project manager in geotechnical construction
for Nicholson Construction and Hayward Baker. He traveled nationally throughout his working
career and had unique opportunities to provide his expertise including NASA, Ground Zero and
collaborations on massive sinkhole reinforcements that measured football fields in multiple
states.
There is no denying the light in his life were his two girls. He loved supporting and cheering on
Tori as she dominated throughout her basketball career at Milton High, Penn State, overseas
and beyond. He proudly passed off his handy work skills to Anne Marie (a spitting image of her
father) and loved watching her climb in her physical therapy career. Everyone who entered his
home gazed in admiration at all of the photos, accolades, accomplishments and love-filled
memories that covered his walls. His two girls hung the moon and sparkled the sky with stars for
him. They were his whole world.
A visitation and gathering to celebrate Scott’s life will take place at Canton Funeral Home on
Saturday, August 3rd, 2024 from 12:00-2:00pm, immediately followed by a memorial service.
