Marie Elizabeth Howard

October 25, 1929 — May 22, 2023

Woodstock

Marie Elizabeth Howard, age 93, passed peacefully to be with her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, in heaven
while at home in Woodstock with her nephew, Don, and his wife, Renata, by her side on May 22, 2023.

Marie is survived by her sister, Dorothy Taylor; her nephew Mack Howard (wife, Rose), nephew Don
Taylor (wife, Renata), niece Susan Espada (husband, Antonio), and niece Jeannine Guarino (husband,
Tom) along with two grand-nephews and five grand-nieces who she helped care for during their younger
years following retirement.

Marie is predeceased by her parents, Augustus Edward Howard and Edna (Braun) Howard, along with
her two brothers, Robert Howard and George Howard.

Marie was born on October 25, 1929 in Queens Village, New York and graduated from Andrew Jackson
High School before taking a few courses at a local trade school. Marie then worked with the Rockefeller
Family for several years before joining the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation in New York on May 2, 1966 in a
secretarial job and served there for 29 years until retiring on April 30, 1995. While in New York, she
enjoyed skating on the ice rinks at Rockefeller Center and Central Park, spending leisure time with family
on Long Island, and finding bargains on the clearance racks of high-end stores in New York City.

Upon retiring, Marie moved to Miami, Florida to live closer to her sister, Dorothy. Having neither married
nor having had children of her own, Marie helped her nieces with their young, growing families. Marie
stayed there until moving to Georgia in 2009.

After moving to Woodstock in 2013 to live with Don and Renata, Marie began attending First Baptist
Church of Woodstock with them. Marie was baptized there on March 15, 2019 at the age of 89. During
her time in Woodstock, she grew fond of the foster care ministry, supporting the Waymark Foster
organization annually to help foster children obtain skills, support, and hope. Marie also enjoyed keeping
up with economic, business, and political news by reading every issue of Barron’s and many articles in
the Wall Street Journal as well as watching news on TV.

The family would sincerely love for you to join us in celebrating Marie’s life. A time of visitation will begin
at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 27, 2023 with a Noon funeral service at the Canton Funeral Home and
Cemetery at Macedonia Memorial Park. The address is 10655 East Cherokee Drive, Canton GA 30115.
