Linda S. Dixon

September 10, 1946 — February 17, 2024

Canton

Linda Stokes Dixon of Canton, Ga., went to be with the Lord on February 17th, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friendShe leaves behind a legacy of love and generosity for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Richard R. Dixon, parents Lucy Jo and Edward Stokes, and brother Wayne Stokes.

She is survived by her daughter Tonya Eldred (husband Chris Eldred)son Joel Dixon (wife Shannon Dixon), brother Frank Stokes (wife Myra Stokes), grandchildren Isabelle, Maddison, and Caleb Dixon, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins who she loved dearly.

Linda was born on September 10th, 1946, in Fulton County, GA and spent most of her life in the Atlanta area. She was a devoted wife of Richard R. Dixon and together they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and hardships which they were able to overcome together. Linda was always surrounded by her family including many nieces and nephews who she adored like they were her own children. Her home and her heart were always open to anyone in need of comfort or compassion. Even when her own physical or emotional challenges were great, she had a smile on her face and a generous spirit for those around her.

An athlete in her youth, she had a passion for sportsEspecially basketball. She was active in the Baptist Church and always kept the Lord in her heart. She was the proud mother of two headstrong children, each of whom inherited her adventurous spirit. Her three adoring grandchildren brought immeasurable joy to her life, and she took great delight in watching them grow and celebrating their achievements. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary, and always included a generous check while skimping by on a fixed income.

Linda and Rick lived in Stockbridge, Georgia for 42 years before she moved to Canton, Ga., to be near her son and grandchildren after Rick passed. The happiest times of her life were always spent with her family. No matter where they were, it always brought her peace that they were together. Life may always seem too short. But for those who were blessed to know Linda, understand the imprint she left on their hearts will continue to live on. She was loved by many, and the memories she created will be forever cherished.

A visitation will be held at 1pm with a memorial service in the chapel at 2pm on March 23rd at Canton Funeral Home and Cemetery at Macedonia Memorial Park 10655 E Cherokee Dr Canton, GA 30115. A celebration of life will immediately follow at our home only 10 minutes away
