Linda Louise Kinder

Linda McEwen Kinder, beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away on June 23, 2026. Born on September 12, 1947, to Carl and Lucile McEwen of Tampa, Florida, Linda lived a life defined by faith, devotion to her family, dedication to her career, and service to others.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lucile McEwen of Tampa, Florida, and her brother, Richard “Dick” McEwen of Brandon, Florida.

Linda graduated from Hillsborough High School in Tampa, Florida, in 1965 and continued her education at Hillsborough Junior College, where she attended for two years following graduation.

In January 1967, Linda met the love of her life, Jimmy Kinder. Their connection was immediate, and later that year, on September 30, 1967, they were married. Together they built a loving marriage that lasted nearly 59 years and was blessed with two sons. In 1972, Linda welcomed her first son, Kevin, and in 1975, her second son, Kyle. Her family was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment.

After completing her family, Linda began a successful career in accounting. Gifted with an exceptional talent for numbers, she approached every challenge with determination and skill. There seemed to be no accounting problem she could not solve. Throughout her career, she worked for Steak n Shake Corporate, John Deere Tampa Tractor, Tampa Electric, and later Verizon, where she spent more than twenty years building a respected and successful career.

During her time with Verizon, Linda’s career led her and her family on several relocations. The first was to San Angelo, Texas, where they became active members of Grace Temple Baptist Church. Linda formed many lasting friendships in San Angelo and often fondly recalled how the entire community seemed to come together for Friday nighthigh school football games. After five years in San Angelo, Linda was transferred to Durham, North Carolina, and later to Irving, Texas, before eventually retiring in Georgia.

After settling in Georgia, Linda became an active member of Canton First Baptist Church, where she faithfully taught a women’s Sunday School class for many years. Her love for Scripture, encouragement, and genuine care for others touched the lives of countless women in her church family.

Retirement did not slow Linda’s desire to serve others. She dedicated almost 12 years as a volunteer at Northside Cherokee Hospital, contributing more than 11,600 hours of volunteer service. She generously gave her time, compassion, and encouragement to patients, families, and staff, touching countless lives through her servant’s heart. Whether in her church, community, workplace, or home, Linda found fulfillment in helping others and making a difference in their lives.

Linda will be remembered for her sharp mind, unwavering work ethic, warm heart, and deep love for her family and friends. She found joy in solving problems, serving others, teaching God’s Word, and creating a welcoming home wherever life took her. Her kindness, intelligence, and steadfast faith left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Jimmy Kinder; her sons, Kevin Kinder and Kyle Kinder; and many extended family members, dear friends, and loved ones who will cherish her memory forever.

Linda’s life was a testament to love, perseverance, faith, and grace. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.“Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23
