Mom was an animal lover, horses & dogs being her favorite. She enjoyed bird watching and knew many of the names and their songs/sounds. As a young woman she owned several horses and rode daily. Her favorite dog “Lady Girl” often accompanied her. At the age of 17 she was a Sunday School Teacher in the Methodist Church in Napanoch. She later became a Telephone Operator in Ellenville. Mom waited patiently at home while Dad served in the US Navy aboard the USS Wisconsin and USS Mississippi.
Mom and Dad were outdoor enthusiasts. Early in their marriage they hunted together with family. They enjoyed being on the road, spending time in the West on their numerous trips. Back in the day before cell phones, CB radios were a common way to communicate. Mom’s handle was “half-pint” referring to her 4”11 stature and not her bigger than life personality.
The addition of grand children added more joy to her life. Mom babysat with each one and loved them enthusiastically.
At the age of 78 Mom went tubing behind a boat for the 1st time and loved it. She remained active in gardening and tending her many house plants. Even at the age of 90, she loved life and spoiled her dogs. Mia, Maci, Princess, and Sage miss her as much as we do.
Graveside service to be conducted in the Spring in New York.
