Joyce Ward, aged 90, of Ball Ground, Georgia, passed away on April 1, 2026. She passed peacefully, in her sleep, due to natural causes.

Joyce was born February 2, 1936, in Denver, Colorado, to parents, Arthur & Hartye Chapman. She lived in Denver throughout her school years and married Gilbert Ward. Gilbert was in the United States Air Force and stationed at Lowry Air Force Base, in Denver. They were married for 65 years, traveling the country and making new homes in every new posting of Gilbert’s.

She was always known as a loving and kind woman, who frequently volunteered in various churches wherever they were stationed. She raised three children: Stephen, Karen & Kevin. Her family all had widely varied interests and she was the strong presence that made her family successful and strong.

Joyce was passionate about traveling, which they frequently did as a family, and continued to do so with Gilbert, making wonderful long trips in their RV. Returning, as often as possible, to her home state of Colorado and her cherished, Rocky Mountains. She loved her dogs and cats. She was a nurturer to all who knew her.

Joyce is survived by her sons, Stephen, of Ball Ground and Kevin, of Spokane, Washington. Kevin’s family, in Washington State: Daughter-in-law, Carmen and Grandchildren: Viviana, Kevin Jr, Christina, Daniel & Monica and their families.

Joyce was preceded in passing by her husband, Gilbert, her daughter, Karen and her beloved sister, Ruth.

A private graveside service will be held Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 1pm, at Canton Funeral Home at Macedonia, Canton, GA. Joyce will be buried next to her daughter and husband. Donations would be appreciated, in Joyce’s name, to Second Wind Dreams www.secondwind.org
