With sorrow in our hearts and profound gratitude for a life deeply lived, we announce the passing of Jeffrey Dwayne Petty. Born on May 3, 1968, in Atlanta, Georgia, Jeffrey departed this world on July 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by honor, dedication, and the enduring bonds of family.

Jeffrey’s journey began amidst the vibrant communities of Atlanta, where he grew under the loving guidance of his mother, Patricia Jones, and step-father, Mike Jones. He was a cherished son, shaped by values instilled in him by his family, including his late father, William Albert Petty, whose memory Jeffrey always upheld with reverence.

From his earliest years, Jeffrey exhibited an insatiable curiosity for how things worked—a trait that seamlessly translated into his distinguished career as a Computer Technician with Bellsouth. His commitment to excellence was reflected in every task he undertook, endearing him to colleagues and clients alike. Reliable, steady, and meticulous, Jeffrey was known for approaching each challenge with patience and an ever-present humility, making him not just a skilled technician, but a teammate who could be counted on.

Before embarking on his professional journey, Jeffrey answered the call of duty and proudly served his country as a member of the US Army. His service was a testament to both his patriotism and his willingness to place others before himself—a mark of character that would define him throughout his life.

Jeffrey is survived by: Mother, Patricia Jones and stepfather Mike Jones, sisters, Celeste Jones and her husband, David, Teresa McNew
Children, Brianna Petty Norimatsu and her husband Josh, Megan Petty, Nephews, Steven Jones and wife Claire and their children, Ava Jean and Charlotte, Andrew Jones and his wife Samantha, Otto McNew and his wife Brandy, Zach Mcnew and his fiance Gracie Swain, Niece, Samantha McNew and her fiance Matt Roberts. Preseeding Jeffrey in death is his fathe, William Albert Petty.

Jeffrey’s strength was quiet, his influence vast. He navigated hardships with resilience and met laughter with an open heart. His absence leaves an ache, yet his legacy endures in the values he imparted, the kindness he extended, and the devotion he showed to those he loved.

To celebrate Jeffrey’s extraordinary life, visitation will be held on Thursday July 16, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Canton Funeral Home and Cemetery at Macedonia Memorial Park, located at 10655 E Cherokee Drive, Canton, Georgia. A graveside service will follow on Friday July 17, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, where final honors will be rendered in tribute to his service and sacrifice.
