With profound sorrow tempered by heartfelt admiration, we mark the passing of Jeffrey Dwayne Petty, who departed this life on July 14, 2026. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 3, 1968, Jeffrey's remarkable journey through 58 years leaves an enduring imprint on the hearts of all who knew and cherished him.
From his earliest days, Jeffrey demonstrated a keen curiosity for how things worked—a curiosity that blossomed into a lifelong passion for technology. This natural aptitude led him to a dedicated career as a Computer Technician with Bellsouth, where he built a reputation not only for his technical skill but for his unfailing integrity, patience, and good humor. Colleagues and friends alike remember Jeffrey as someone who approached every task with a meticulous sense of responsibility and a genuine desire to help those around him.
Jeffrey’s spirit of service extended well beyond his professional life. He proudly served his country in the US Army, carrying with him the discipline, honor, and camaraderie forged in the bonds of military life. These values, so deeply embedded in his character, infused every aspect of his later endeavors and relationships.
Those who shared in Jeffrey’s life reflect fondly on his devotion as a son, brother, father, and friend. He is survived by his beloved mother, Patricia Jones, and his steadfast step-father, Mike Jones. His sisters, Celeste Jones and Teresa McNew, along with brother-in-law David Jones, grieve the loss of a confidant and steadfast companion. His daughter, Brianna Petty-Norimats, and son-in-law Josh Norimatsu, carry forward his enduring love and guiding wisdom.
Among those holding dear to Jeffrey’s memory are his nephews, Steven Jones, Andrew Jones, Otto McNew, and Zach McNew; nieces Samantha McNew and Gracie Swain; and the extended family connections including Claire Jones, Ava, Jean, and Charlotte Jones, Samantha Jones, Brandy McNew, and Matt Roberts. Each carries with them personal stories and treasured moments with Jeffrey—be it lively discussion, sage advice, or a quiet word of encouragement.
The family also honors the memory of his father, William Albert Petty, whose presence is felt in the many lessons and traditions that live on through Jeffrey’s legacy.
As we pause to celebrate a life so well-lived, we invite family, friends, and all whose lives were brightened by Jeffrey’s presence to join for visitation on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Canton Funeral Home and Cemetery at Macedonia Memorial Park, located at 10655 E Cherokee Drive, Canton, GA 30115. A graveside service will follow on Friday, July 17, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Georgia National Cemetery – Canton GA, at 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, Canton, GA 30114.
Within the hearts of those closest to him, Jeffrey Dwayne Petty’s laughter, steadfast love, and unwavering integrity shall forever echo. He will be sorely missed, but the legacy of his kindness and the memories of his gentle spirit shall never fade.
