Greta Christine Borgerson

Waleska

Uff Da! Our hearts were broken on July 7, 2023. Greta Borgerson (born Corbett) wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and so much more passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, friends, and pets in her home in Georgia.

Retiring to Georgia was just the latest stop in an adventurous life. Born in Aitkin, Minnesota and raised in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, she would go on to live in Minneapolis, Iowa, New York, Alabama, Missouri, and finally Waleska, Georgia. Always successfully taking up the challenge of organizing and decorating each new home and with her amazing spirit, making new lifelong friends from all over the world.

Greta touched the life's of so many people. In addition to the long list of lifetime friends, she was the daughter of Audrey and Roy Corbett, a sister to Gloria Donnay living in Minnesota, and married 58 years to Terry Borgerson. She had three children Trigg Borgerson married to Linda living in Virginia; Torr Borgerson living in Georgia; and Trista Reese married to Mark Reese also living in Georgia. She was the grandmother, known as YaYa, to Ursula {13}, Hunter {15}, and Griffin {13}, Aunt to Rod, Jessica, Thomas, Taylor, Jacob, Jodi, Lori, Adam, Cathy, Kim, Andrea, and Greg, and a niece to Kay Walker and Roz Borgerson. Finally, her loving nature was felt by the students and teachers at the Francis Howell School District in St Charles, MO, where she taught 5th grade for 22 years. She has stayed connected with many of her friends from teaching and childhood right up until the day she passed. Her childhood friends are always quick to point out that she was the ring leader, "it was Greta's idea", they would say?

Greta’s life was filled with many accomplishments, she was incredibly talented, and often travelled to visit various beaches, mountains, and friends in other states. She was a graduate of Fergus Falls High School and graduated from the University of Minnesota and Mankato with her bachelor’s in education and minor in art. Greta has had many interests, but her favorites were gardening, reading and
writing. She was always outside with her gardening. Rock gardens, flowers, bushes, and weeding, she couldn’t stand weeds. Along with gardening she had a passion for nature, reading a good book, animals, and decorating. She had an eye for bringing the outside in, along with a few stray animals. Her love of plants went well with her creative skill and passion for decorating. She did much of her decorating by refinishing furniture that she would pick up at junk stores. When relaxing she was an avid reader, getting her books from the local libraries, and enjoyed watercolor painting. She wrote hundreds of poems to family and friends. Her most popular ones were Christmas poems. It wasn’t Christmas until you received one. These poems would eventually become her and Terry’s Christmas cards. Family and friends loved being a part of her life as she shared her many talents.

Her great love and care of animals also emphasized her pure empathy for all living things. She had many cats and dogs over the years. Terry’s wedding present to her was a Toy Poodle, Inky, that they had for 15 years. They also had 3 cats Scooter {22}, Socks {18} and Reese {6}.

Finally, her many qualities brave, genuine, strong, compassionate, indescribably kind, creative and beautiful, were summed up by a common phrase found in the comments and condolences sent by so many that knew her, “SHE IS AN AMAZING WOMEN...”.

But her greatest quality was kindness and generosity towards people. Whatever or whenever you needed something, she was there. She looked out for neighbors and could make you laugh and cry; cry because she made you laugh so hard. Her spirit will live on through us. We will never forget her love and she will be in our hearts forever!

She will be missed and loved always!

We will be celebrating her life on October 7th, 2023. Please check on Terry Borgerson’s Facebook page for details and other stories of the life and times of Greta.
