IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth Jean
Hoag
January 12, 1957 – June 18, 2025
Elizabeth Jean Hoag
Born January 12th 1957
Died June 18th 2025
On June 18th, 2025 our beloved Elizabeth "Beth" Hoag, surrounded with love and family passed away peacefully in her sleep. Born on January 12th, 1957 to Nancy (Lease) Carpenter and Byron Dale Carpenter in Mount Vernon Ohio, she was the first of 3 siblings. In her late teens her family moved down to Venice Florida where she spent most of her adult life. In Venice is where she gave birth to her son Ray, she met the love of her life Michael Weicks, and grew in her community. She started out in nursing but was injured twice on the job trying to save patients. Undeterred and wanting to stay in the medical field she became a Medical Transcriptionist. She eventually owned her own transcription business until her injuries and illnesses made it where she could not work. During all of this she was very active in her local church as the secretary for both the church and the k-12 school attached to the church. She even taught science for grades 5&6. In 2016 Mike and Beth followed their son Ray to Canton Georgia where she was an active member at Generations Church.
Love, family, and community were always driving forces for Beth. Whether she was hanging out at the local coffee shop or helping to produce children's plays for the school she always had smiles and love to pass around. Beth loved to crotchet and would often give away her created items to brighten someone's day. Beth never met a stranger. She would see so many people hurting and needing help she would do what she could to help them even though physically she was in pain herself. There are so many people who know Mike and Beth simply as Mom and Dad because they would meet people and treat them like they were family because in Mike's and Beth's eyes they were. You knew Beth was a Christian because Christ's love poured from her. Even at the nursing home where Beth lived for the last few years she was always putting others first. She led a Bible study, would listen and offer advice, and just be there in support for the other residents and staff.
Beth was preceded in death by her parents Nancy (Lease) Carpenter and Byron Dale Carpenter, as well as her brother-in-law Robert Sauter. Beth is survived by her husband of 37 years Michael Weicks, her son Byron Raymond Hoag (Wife Niki Hoag), her sister Michele Sauter, her brother Keith Carpenter (Wife Loice Carpenter), and so many extended family members and loved ones.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Generations Church, 110 Bluffs Parkway in Canton, Georgia with a Visitation to begin at 12:00 pm and a Memorial Service to follow at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 19, 2025.
