Dolores J Henson

Dolores Jeannette Henson passed peacefully into eternity on June 9, 2026, at the age of 90, in her home in Ball Ground, Georgia.

Dolores was born on February 22, 1936, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, to John Henry Autry and Eva Mae Autry. She was raised on Atlanta's west side and graduated from O’Keefe High School in 1953.

In 1953, Dolores married Billy Jerome Henson, the love of her life. Billy preceded her in death in 2012. Dolores was one of four sisters and is survived by her youngest sister, Joann Warthen. She was preceded in death by her older twin sisters, Netty and Betty.

Dolores is lovingly remembered by her three children: Connie Richardson and her husband Nick; Gary Henson and his wife Shelly; and her youngest daughter, Belinda Henson. She is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her tremendous joy.

Dolores retired at age 65. During her more than twenty-three years at AT&T, she became a trusted resource to both colleagues and management. Known for her knowledge, patience, and willingness to help, she was often the person others turned to when they needed guidance or assistance.

A woman of deep Christian faith, Dolores often shared how she came to know her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ while attending a Salvation Army church in her early years. Her relationship with Christ was the defining characteristic of her life. She devoted herself to studying Scripture, praying faithfully for her family, church family, and friends, and encouraging others in their walk with God. It was not uncommon to find her in prayer, arms lifted before the Lord, interceding for those she loved. Her pastor remarked that Dolores was a woman who truly hungered and thirsted after righteousness—a description reflected in her unwavering pursuit of God, her love for His Word, and her faithful service to others. She lived well, loved deeply, and left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Dolores was actively involved in her church's widows' ministry, where she faithfully encouraged and supported fellow widows. She also had a deep love for missions and was a devoted supporter through both prayer and financial giving.

A memorial service celebrating Dolores’s life will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at New Covenant Bible Church, 1095 Scott Road, Canton, Georgia. Visitation with the family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Though Dolores will be deeply missed, her family rejoices in the assurance that she is now in the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she faithfully loved and served throughout her life.
