Obituary

On Saturday, May 9th, 2026, Courtney Ashworth Allen (75) passed away peacefully at her home

in Canton, GA, following a stroke two weeks prior.

Courtney was born in Richmond, VA, on December 5th, 1950 to David William Ashworth and

Irene Ashworth Chandler. She grew up in Greenville, SC alongside her two sisters and three

brothers, and graduated from Manatee Senior High School in Bradenton, FL, in 1968. Courtney

then attended Truett McConnell University in Cleveland, GA from 1968-1969, where she met

Keith Patrick Allen. Keith and Courtney were married on June 26th, 1970 in Greenville, SC in the

Markley Chapel at Christ Episcopal Church.

Courtney was an animal lover who grew up showing horses, her favorite childhood horse being

Pink Sparkles who won many blue ribbons in South Carolina horse shows. The first horse she

and Keith bought after they got married was an American saddlebred named Banner, who she

showed in local Georgia shows and stabled at Chastain Park where she made lifelong friends.

Courtney and Keith began a successful luggage repair business in the late 1970’s, Atlanta

Luggage Repair, that they ran together for over forty years. When not busy at the shop, Keith

and Courtney enjoyed golfing together on Sundays. In 1984, Keith and Courtney built their

forever home on nine beautiful acres in Canton, GA, where they lived out their lives hosting

family gatherings, tending the pastures, raising horses, and spoiling their many, many adopted

dogs.

Courtney is survived by her loving family: elder sister Corbin Ashworth Pressly, of Fleming Island,

FL; younger sister, Claudia Ashworth Hamer, of Charlotte, NC; younger brother, David Mark

Ashworth, of Greenville, SC; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Courtney was predeceased by her parents, David William Ashworth and Irene Ashworth

Chandler; her younger brothers, Cardno Campbell Ashworth and Christopher Kelly Ashworth;

and her beloved husband of 57 years, Keith Patrick Allen.

Internment of Ashes will take place privately at a later time.
